It has been pretty mellow lately. I missed class Friday and chose to relax at home and relax. I still managed 3 runs last week, including one today. The nice thing about running is it’s close to home and there’s not avel time. I’ll be back to class normally next week though.
Iggy came with me on my run today. We ran through gastown and around Canada Place, where all the cruise ships dock in Vancouver. Iggy was very popular. I got everal requests at various points along the run from people who wanted to pet Iggy. He’s so popular! A chick magnet, really. He loves it though.
Tonight we’re going to go for sushi and see Charlie’s Angels at a late show. I’m looking forward to it.
I’ve sent a letter to my strata company to make sure I can install a window mounted air conditioner in our loft. I don’t see any of them at all in our building so I want to make sure there are no bylaws against it before we spend the money. It would not be so much fun if they don’t permit them, as it means our only option would be a portable unit that costs three times as much. From 450 after tax to 1400+ after tax.
I’m thankful for the rain today. It’s a bit cooler than I’d expected, which is awesome. Speaking of water… I turnbed the garden hose on Iggy and me after our run. He loves it! The crazy little guy sprints around snapping at the spray and spins on his back legs; it’s hilarious. He seemed to like the fact that I was getting wet too.
Counting down the hours until sushi gets in my belly.
Gotta love crack addicts yelling someone’s name over and over and over again until their voices are hoarse and broken and half the neighborhood is telling them to shut the fuck up.
Sometimes I love my neighborhood.
Not.
Iggy and I went for a run tonight. We had a good time. We jogged up and around BC place, up the stairs and down again. When we got home I did 45 mins of stretching and then some push ups.
I am going to invest in a pedometer so I can tell how much distance I’m covering when I run so I can set some goals for distance.
Tomorrow I have to drop some overdue books at the library and check to see if there is anything new to read. It’s rerun season on TV so books become extra important.
Going to hit the shower soon and then check out Letterman and go to bed.
I saw Hulk today and it was pretty much what I expected. Big mean green machine going Uggh ooogh roarrr. Nothing special. In fact the story line kind of sucked and didn’t really come together coherently at all ever in the movie. Spiderman and X-men were a thousand times better.
My new favorite band is Evanescence. I got their CD today and was totally blown away. I haven’t heard anything this good in a long long time. My two fave songs on the CD are “My Immortal” and “Bring me to Life”.
I highly recommend listening to this band. They rock! The female lead singer has an amazing voice.
I got to class tonight only to find it had been cancelled. It would be fabulous if I was actually given some advanced warning so I can save myself an hour travel time. Ah well. Katt, Iggy and I went for a walk tonight to the beach and we played with ball and Iggy went and swam in the ocean. He was a very very happy puppy.
I worked on Katt’s AB site today and did some programming for columns on the site for her that she couldn’t do herself.
Quiet day today. I need to put up some content this week. It’s been about 9 days since we’ve put anything new up. New content makes for happy members!
I went for a jog tonight, my standard 20 minute run. I started off on a longer route that would have taken me at about 30 minutes/3 miles, but my ankles and hips have been sore so I made some shortcuts to stay at a 20 minute run. Then I did some stretching when I got home and some sit ups.
I’m making sure not to overtrain so I don’t go backwards instead of forwards. Very very important.
I’ve been hoping to find some workout buddies, but have had no offers yet. I’ve posted in a few places and nobody has replied. I’ll keep my eyes open.
I made sockeye salmon for dinner. I smothered it with lemon and filleted it and put it skin side down on some tin foil, then put it in the BBQ for 10 minutes. I also made onion & garlic mashed potatoes and a green salad. The salmon kicked ass. I bought a big whole salmon in Chinatown and filleted into four 1lb pieces and froze 2 of them, cooked one, and left one in the fridge for tomorrow.
I am thinking of taking some cooking courses so I can learn to make really healthy foods that are really tasty. Right now everything I cook, while it tastes awesome, is pretty simple. I get tired of simple things after a while! I’d also like to learn to cook low fat desserts. I love my desserts, so figuring out how to cut the fat and calories out would be a good thing.
I’m looking forward to class tomorrow night. I’m going to make sure I do a proper warm up before class so that I take some of the body prep time away from my actual class.

Today is laundry day and grocery shopping day. I put new sheets on the bed last night which left me with a big pile of laundry to do. Once that is done we’re going to go to Chinatown and pick up some salmon and greens for dinner. I’m trying to decide if I’m going to go to the liquor store to pick up some wine for cooking the salmon or if I will just grill it on the BBQ. I think grilling is more my speed, simply because I don’t want to walk to the liquor store.
Iggy will be happy to go to Chinatown. He’s an attention pig!
I’m enjoying my new journal system. It’s so much easier to post when I feel like it. no more html coding for each entry.
The last few days I’ve been going to bed very late and not feeling much like getting out of bed when it’s wake up time. Perhaps it’s my body telling me I’ve abused it a bit too much in the last week. Class yesterday started off slowly. It took my body a while to warm up. Once it did warm up I felt pretty good.
Once it gets dark tonight I’m going to go for a run. I’ve decided to up my running to three miles from two miles to try to bump up my running time to a point where I’m getting the fat burning benefits as well as the cardio benefits. A 20 (I run a 10 minute mile right now) minute run isn’t quite long enough to get good fat burning going, so upping it to 30 minutes should work for me cardio and burning wise.
The belly has got to go! So since I’m still eating junk food and drinking sweet drinks, I’m going to up my exercise a bit to account for the crappy diet. And of course I will keep working on substituting healthy eating choices for the crappy ones.
I usually eat because I’m feeling a bit down in the dumps, or because it is something to do while I’m working, computering, or waching the tube. When the mouth is occupied I’m a happy guy!
Thursday is movie day for me. Katt is off playing with her adult baby, so I’m going to go watch Hulk at Tinseltown. I’m also looking forward to T3 and Charlie’s Angels. Go Lucy & Drew!
Time to go… laundry needs to come out, and food needs to be bought!
I Am A: Chaotic Good Elf Bard Fighter
Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.
Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.
Primary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.
Secondary Class:
Fighters are the warriors. They use weapons to accomplish their goals. This isn’t to say that they aren’t intelligent, but that they do, in fact, believe that violence is frequently the answer.
Deity:
Hanali Cenanil is the Chaotic Good elven goddess of love, beauty, and art. She is also known as the Heart of Gold and Lady Goldheart. Her followers delight in creation and youth, and work to spread happiness, love, and beauty. Their preferred weapon is the dagger.

Still sore today, but better than yesterday. Walking up and down the stairs to the Skytrain was a unique experience.
Iggy had fun at my folks today. He was a ball of pugalicious energy as usual and very focused on having someone throw his ball for him. He’s loved by many and adored by all, thats for sure. Everywhere we go we get people asking to pet him and girls (guys too) squealing with delight as he snorts on by. We took my folks out for dinner as a belated mother and fathers day sentiment type of thing. It was cool.
I’m still a bit tired tonight. I slept pretty well, but still feel emotionally weathered. I’m looking forward to having a very good sleep tonight. The cool weather has been great for my sleep. I haven’t woken up from the heat in a few days.
I’m going to go buy a DVD player tomorrow. They’re on Sale at the Future Shop for 70 bucks. It was Katt and my 8th wedding anniversary today, so my mom gave us the gift of cash for the DVD player, which was nice of her. I’ve been wanting a DVD player for a long time but kept putting it off in favour of more practical things.
We’d actually forgotten it was our wedding anniversary today. On the drive to my folks she said, “what day is it today?” and I thought and went.. “Oh right, it’s our anniversary”. So happy anniversary to us. 8 years married and 11 years together. We don’t really celebrate our wedding day though, it’s always been the day we met that we celebrate. Still – it’s a reminder that we’ve been together a number of years and it feels pretty good.
