cooking

Ξ September 29th, 2003 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

I took my own advice and I bought a 4lb Prime Rib roast that I’m cooking as I write. Hopefully it’ll last a good amount of time and all I need to do for the next few days is nuke some veggies or make a salad.

Cooking sucks!

Eating rocks!

I’ve been pondering

Ξ September 29th, 2003 | → 1 Comments | ∇ General |

I’ve been pondering my difficulties meeting people who are interested in developing friendships. I think I’m looking in the wrong places or perhaps I’m missing something somehow.

So many of the people that do approach me do so because they’ve seen my websites or postings and they figure since I’m bi and naked on the net, that I must be looking for sex. I’m not. Sex is easy to find - good friends aren’t. I’ve found that friendships that start out based on sex don’t tend to last much longer than the sex does.

I wonder if I seem disinterested to people who have met me. I can certainly see how that might come across. I can be reserved when I’m around people I don’t know very well. I was lucky with Aya and wife, they were pushy! They got into my heart by being such sweet pushy love bunnies.

I’m just doing a bit of thinking about how if what I’m doing now doesn’t seem to work, what I need to do to do something that does.

food wagons

Ξ September 29th, 2003 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

I fell off the food wagon this weekend. All weekend was basically junk food time, except for the apples I ate. A&W Friday, McDonalds Saturday, Cola, Candy bars, and Apples. Oh, and good old KD.

See, the problem is that I don’t always feel like cooking. I’m thinking I need to get into the habit of making a roast or something at the beginning of the week so we have leftovers. Or perhaps I need to get in the habit of making stews and cassaroles and shit like that. Less cooking is best.

I’m still sitting around 220, though it seems *gasp* actually to be mostly muscle! Other than the belly that is. I’ve always been a big guy. In highschool I sat around 185-195lbs, and in 92-94 I went up to 235 when I was at UVic and not exercising much at all. Then in 95 or 96 I was down to 185, a low weight for me at 25 years of age. Then in 2000 I was down around 195 again, which worked pretty well for me. All in all I’d say I’ve averaged around 195-210′ish. And I’ve *always* had a belly!

L0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0oVvVvVvVvVEEEEeeEeEeee the belly!

In other news - we ended up doing a pretty major scrubbing downstairs today. We found a mouse, well, the cat found a mouse, hiding under the stove. So we pulled the lower drawer out and I saw the dirt underneath and while cleaning it out, a little moose ran out across the floor, across Katt’s feet, and under the big cabinet. So… We pulled everything out from under the cabinet, pulled the couch out, and lo and behold since it was already all out we cleaned *everything*. So yeah. All clean now. We’re not sure where the mouse ended up, but at least it has no dog kibble on the floor to snack on. The cat is on the prowl though, so I’m not all that worried.

More later…

running a website

Ξ September 27th, 2003 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

For the 2% of you who write to us

*rant*

It always suprises me how infantile some people can become when you advertise in their yahoo group or on their message board. We frequently advertise on yahoo groups and message boards, because it’s about the only advertising we can afford to do. Last night, we advertised the FREE, yes, FREE, personals site that we set up and got about 20 messages slamming us for advertising a service for people that we offer for FREE or being critical of the site (without actually going to visit it).

Now, something similar happens with the pay sites we have, all of which have extensive links and other free content that we offer to people. Katt’s age play site alone has over 1000 links to yahoo groups alone!

We’re trying to offer people a service that a) people asked for and b) we have put long hours into creating, a lot of which is content, links, and photos, that is absolutely free. When the age play site didn’t have a members area yet, we got lots of amazing letters saying how great it was that we put so much work to give people so much. As soon as we put a members area, the pay site stigma kicked in. All of the sudden we got letters asking for free memberships and saying how bad we were for deciding to charge for access when they didn’t think they should have to. Now, the free content all stayed free, btw. The only thing that was added was the photo galleries inside the members area.

I don’t think that some people understand the cost and time involved in setting up and running a website. There’s this mistaken impression that somehow providing adult themed artistic and erotic content is not a ‘real job’ and thus the people who are providing the content should give it away for free. I get so many letters each week from people saying, I like your site, can I have a free pass, or can you put more free content in the free gallery? How can I afford to keep the sites running, pay for hosting, pay for all the equipmnent we use (and it’s not cheap folks) to take and process photos unless we keep some content in reserve that people pay for to get access to? We couldn’t. Pure and simple as that. And yes, I also deserve to be paid for my time.

Running adult themed websites takes a lot of time, money, and energy to make them successful. Not only do you have to create content that is high quality and original, you have to spend time every day marketing your websites just to cover bare costs. Each year it gets more and mroe difficult to make a living running a website such as ours. There’s this belief that adult websites make a tonne of money and, while they used to in the mid to late 90’s, the vast majority of websites close in the first 6 months because the comeptition has become so fierce. There are so many adult sites to choose from nowadays that even covering your costs each month becaomes a challenge.

So how do you let people know about your website, when most search engines charge 400+US for an adult themed website to be linked and 99% of all other advertising medium charge hundreds of dollar for a month of advertising? You find alternatives. That means posting links in Yahoo groups on message boards, finding top lists to link with, link exchanges with other similar sites, and most importantly - word of mouth!

We love the work we do. We love to create unique erotic art photography that you don’t always see a tonne of everywhere else on the net. We promote diversity and provice place on the net for people to surf where they can find other like minded people to talk with and websites, and US, that are supportive of diverse lifestyles. We don’t do this because it’s a great way to make quick money, because it isn’t and you don’t. We do this because we have fun doing what we do and because we get to meet a lot of wonderful people. Any money we make goes right back into producing more content, free and pay, for the sites.

I get grumpy when I get messages from people that comoplain endlessly about how we should give all our work away for free because we owe them something for coming to view the site in teh first place. My opinion always has been, and always will be, that if you don’t like it you are free to go somewhere else. And if you write to me to complain and are rude about it, I’m going to jump down your throat and be rude right back, and if you bitch about me being rude, take a look at yourself and try to understand why.

It seems to me that the people who do write are just looking for something to complain about in the first place, and we just happened to be their current target. We’re ALWAYS open to constructive criticism regarding the design and content we produce. We are NOT open to rudeness, individuals that feel entitled to bash us for the services we provide, or individuals that just like to hear the sound of their bitchy voice.

*/rant*

98% of the people who write to us are sweeties. We love to hear from you and your opinions are important to us! We work as hard as we do because we get your feedback and hear what kind of art you want to see.

A big thank you to people who have been supportive and continue to support our sites. We couldn’t continue to do it without you!

the weekend is almost here

Ξ September 26th, 2003 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

For the first time in a few years, I’m looking forward to not exercising on the weekend. After the dislocated fingers, strained neck muscles, and sore and fatigued muscles, I’m really ready for a few days to recouperate.

I love heating pads and muscle relaxants. I can actually move my neck! Woohoo! A little more exercise tonight, and then I’m going to be a couch potato on the weekend.

Still in dire need of a massage buddy. Gotta get those knots out and the vertebrae back into place.

Ahh.. life is wonderful!

naked Yoga

Ok, I’ve had two votes for Naked Yoga. The only problem is I don’t know enough to run a class. Perhaps just a Naked Stretching class would suffice? That I can do!

l’update

Ξ September 24th, 2003 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

I’m in desperate need of a shower and a long massage. I’m so tight right now. I feel better fitness just around the corner though, and it is good. I’d rather feel sore than not. Soreness means I’m doing the body good.

Some potential family drama - one of my family members has some major health problems that induce mind altering pain and is on the verge of suicide if nothing is done about it by the doctors. Thankfully not Katt this time - but family none the less. Hopefully the doctors will help them and the issue will be resolved that way rather than having to go through the alternative. It’s not something I want to have to go through again, especially the aftermath and the care the rest of my family will need from me(as I’m the most stable of the bunch and capable of dealing with such an event, especially since I’ve gone through suicide watch when Katt was suicidal and dealt with multiple recessitations after attempts she made).

So anyways, we’ll see what happens. I’m going to see how things unfold and do what I need to do *if* I need to do anything. No sense in jumping the gun.
