dancing porn monkey

Ξ March 29th, 2004 | → 2 Comments | ∇ General |

I decided this week that we really needed to set up more photo sessions. I got to thinking that if I took photos of every horny guy thats ever contacted me on ICQ or e-mail, I’d have a mega amateur male porn site by now!

I made a model page to let people who are interested in modeling know what kinds of photos we do and what we’re looking for. The other thing we need to do is find someone to photograph the two of us. It’s quite challenging to photograph ourselves when we’re both wanting to be IN the photo. We were trying to negotiate a shoot today with the two of us and we just couldn’t get all the angles we wanted.

I’ve wanted to put up a really good bi male site for a long time now, the only hitch in my plan being the fact that I am generally not into casual sex and I don’t currently have any men I’m interested in. In particular I’ve always wanted to do m/m/f photos in a new and original way. I’ve been in my share of m/m/f threeways and all I can says is YUM! It’s pretty hot. I think it would be fun to try to capture the YUM factor on camera. I’ve been in more f/f/m threesomes than m/m/f, and they are pretty hot too. I’ve never been in a m/m/m threesome though. I’m not sure that I ever will be, either. I have a block when it comes to intimacy with men, but thats another entry.

I’ve found the trick to doing really good photos of couples or groups is to have folks who actually are really into each other and have good chemistry involved in the photos. Chemistry really comes across in photos, and the major porn studios are missing the ball by not fimling couples or bonded groups. I hate looking at porn where the porn stable actors compete for who’s the cutest on cam.

So the long and short of it is that we’re going to try to set up photo shoots a few times weekly from now on. I’m also going to keep my eyes out for a cute boy, girl, or couple for that matter, where there’s some mutual chemistry. I’m 100% positive I can make safer sex look as hot as all get out.

Thats pretty much whats been on my mind today. If you’ve visited the revamp of Erotimania then you’ve read what Katt’s written about our view of pornography and sexuality. In my opinion pornography is a much maligned word that needs reclaiming, and we plan to do our part!

Common sense and duality

Ξ March 26th, 2004 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

One of my beliefs is that truth lies in contradiction. I believe essentially that two opposites can be completely valid and coexistant. I’ve observed that that most people look at the world in terms of polarities. ie) Conservative vs Liberal, Gay vs Straight, religious vs atheist, etc. It’s really quite interesting to me that most people aren’t able to embrace the duality that exists everywhere as a cohesive part of human nature and existence.

When I read headlines that talk about homosexuality being banned in tennessee in the US (the ban as reversed 2 days after it had been put in place), the pope saying that using birth control is a sin, or the polatities between political parties, I have to just shake my head in sheer amazement. More often than not the polatities express themselves in what people are AGAINST rather than what they are FOR.

What is it about human beings that sets people ‘against’ rather than adopting a more sane laizzez faire approach to life. Seriously, what business is it of anyone elses what I do in my bedroom, who I love, what I do with and to my body, or what I believe spiritually.

The sad thing is that many of the people who are so AGAINST actively promote their viewpoint as the one true way and that all alternatives should cease and desist immediately. I’ve learned that there is really no point trying to explain my viewpoints to people that have that view of the world, because they know they are right and their goal is to convince me that they’re right, rather than to actually have a dialogue and attempt to understand my position.

I believe everyone has a right to their own opinion, however - I do not believe that any person should have the right to limit how other people live their lives, express themselves sexually, spiritually, or otherwise.

In my estimation it all comes down to common sense, which unfortunately is not so common. People are so focused on differences that they can’t see that the vast majority of us have the same basic needs and wants in life:

1) to be loved
2) to love
3) to belong
4) food & shelter
5) to be challenged
6) (hopefully) to grow and expand as a person
7) to contribute to our community

I honestly believe we should be encouraging people to express care for other people and their community in all ways, shapes, and forms. Love is a good thing. Sex is a good thing. Consensual acts between adults are good things.

It’s so strange to me that there are people that exist that look at two men, or two women, or a poy group expressing love for each other and see that as wrong. How can love be wrong?

Acceptance and tolerance is a wonderful thing.

10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1

Now add up the total number of points.

OVER 60 POINTS:
Others see you as someone they should “handle withcare.”
You’re seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant.
Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don’t
always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.

51 TO 60 POINTS:
Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, Rather impulsive personality;
a natural leader, who’s quick to make decisions, though not always the right
ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything
once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an >adventure. They enjoy being
in your company because of the excitement you radiate.

41 TO 50 POINTS:
Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always
interesting; someone who’s constantly in the centerof attention, but sufficiently
well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate,
and understanding; someone who’ll always cheer them up and help them out.

31 TO 40 POINTS:
Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever,
gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily,
but someone who’s extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same
loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your
trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that
trust is ever broken.

21 TO 30 POINTS:
! Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious,
extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you
ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to
examine everything carefully from every angle >and then, usually decide against it.
They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS:
People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking
after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn’t
want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who
always sees problems that don’t exist. Some people think you’re boring. Only
those who know you well know that you aren’t

Ok. So I fucked up.

I installed madrake on my spare drive, didn’t install as I expected, tried to delete it, ended up screwing up my windows drive. Fucking linux.

90 mins and a complete re-install later.

Fuck.

No more experimenting on my work station. So glad all I lost was e-mail and some porn. I’d backed everything else up.

Still.

Fuck fuckety fuck fuck fuck.

Curses, foiled again!

It was a good idea, anyways. It turns out the motherboard is fried on the spare box I have. Thats why I got it for free, I think! I spent an hour getting it all set up, and it didn’t work. Poo. It looks like I’ll need to go pick up one of those cheap mobo/cpu/ram upgrades, or perhaps even buy another complete box. It’ll have to wait for now. I don’t feel like spending a few hundred dollars on something that I don’t feel is super urgent. I may also look in the buy and sell newsgroups and see if there is a p3 mobo around that I can grab cheap.

I suppose I could install mandrake on this machine on the second HD and set it up so I could boot windows or mandrake. That could work. I’l have to go and see how I can do that.

It’s pissing down rain right now. It’s quite miserable out there. I’ve been debating training tonight because my hamstrings are so sore, and the rain isn’t helping me stay motivated to go.

I WILL GO! Hamstrings be damned!

The truth about being an adult webmaster

Ξ March 24th, 2004 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

I just checked my bandwidth stats for the day. It’s looking great! With all the tweaks we made we’re now saving 900 Megabytes of bandwidth a day. Woohoo! I’m pretty content with that. With our bandwidth sitting between 2 and 3 GB a day we’re right where we want to be. I’m not quite ready to go to the next payment level yet as our membership base isn’t high enough to support it.

I would buy more bandwidth however if there were folks interested in hosting a website with us. We have a sweet setup, so if you know anyone thats looking for a host, send them our way!

Katt has a client coming over tomorrow, so while she’s busy with him/her I’m going to be putting together my spare box and installing mandrake linux on it. A friend recommended Mandrake as a good user friendly linux version, so I figure I’ll try it out. I’ll take my porn HD out of this machine, 128or256MB of RAM from Katt’s machine, and the old 48x CD ROM from her machine, and voila, I have a unix box. The mandrake distro has apache built in as well as many of the other tools I have on my regular server, so it should give me some good practice. I’ll hook the unix box up outside of my firewall and give it a direct internet connection and see how the mofo works. Then I can practice and make sure that I’m completely competent!

In other news I did 2 miles on the dreadmill tonight, followed by 15 mins of light stretching and a HOT bath. My hamstrings have been killing me lately so I’ve been trying to keep them warm and stretch them lightly on off days from training to try to give them a chance to recover. I’m trying to score a hamstring massage from the girl but no luck thus far. I keep forgetting to catch her when she’s not busy!

Now I go off to view web logs!

bandwidth overload!

Ξ March 23rd, 2004 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

I looked at our bandwidth usage yesterday for the sites and I was a bit flabberghasted! From the 6th to the 22nd we’ve used almost 60GB of bandwidth. Erg. That was my total for all of February! I took a look at my log files and found the culprits. We had made a few advertising banners recetly, one of which ate up 3GB of bandwidth on it’s own over 16 days. Another one ate up 2.5GB, and yet another one ate up 1.5GB. That’s 7GB of bandwidth for three banners that we didn’t optimize properly for file size. Ah well. We fixed them and they’ll now use up considerably less bandwidth. In total I’ve adjusted close to 100 graphic files to make their file size smaller. Based on bandwidth use today, we’re looking at between 600MB and 1GB less traffic due to going through the free areas of our sites and optimizing the files for size. We’re continuing to go through and trim graphic sizes in the free areas where we can so that we don’t get stuck with bandwidth costs that we don’t need! A title graphic here, model buttons there. In our zeal to promote when we got the new server, we went a little nuts on graphics. Ah well, live and learn!

Speaking of learning; I need to learn how to do remote linux/apache admin. There are a few things I want to do server wise, such as install a better log analyzer, Spam detectors, and better BFD software. But alas, I have no freaking clue! Soon I will install redhat and apache on my spare box, and spend all my time learning. I just need to put the box back together, which means taking the extra HD out of my machine, and 256MB of memory from Katt’s machine and putting it in the spare box. Then of course, I have to figure out how to install redhat on a plain formatted HD. Oh yay! I’m actually cringing a little. I need to find someone who is willing to barter for linux instruction. The thought of learning it on my own is somewhat daunting.

Back to work!

fluff!

Ξ March 21st, 2004 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

Space filler because I feel like writing.

1. Laying on your back and facing the ceiling, which side of the bed do you sleep on?

I sleep on the right side of the bed. The side of the bed I sleep on is the side that faces the room. One side our bed is usually against a wall, and I don’t like sleeping against the wall, so I sleep on whatever side is open to the room.

2. Do you have to have covers (blankets and/or sheets) at all costs, no matter the weather?

I always sleep with a duvet even if it’s 30 degrees outside. The duvet manages to get thrown off at some point in the night when it’s too hot, but I love being tucked into bed.

3. Sleep nekkid or no? Why?

Naked! It’s more comfortable! Though once I wake up I like to be dressed.

4. What’s under your bed?

Art and dust bunnies.

5. If you have pets, do you let them sleep with you? Why or why not?

Iggy sleeps with us every night. We like having him with us. He’s a good boy! He’s also good at taking up very little space and he’s very cute when he snores.

Good sex!

Ξ March 20th, 2004 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

Life is good, life is good, life is GOOD.

After 2.5 years, Katt’s sex drive is BACK! I could kiss her doctor for prescribing new old medication for Katt. It’s actually quite unbelievable how positive the change of meds has been. Woohoo!

My evening involved canes, paddles, nerf bats, duct tape, and dildos. Yummy.

I have my horny all the time girl back!

On other notes - I had a killer headache on Friday and Saturday that mostly kept me immobile. I did manage to work out on Saturday, but I had to hold off doing anything that involved bumping and thumping. So far sunday is off to a great start!

I’m also trying to increase my google page rank for all my sites, but my journal especially. I’ll be adding the subdomain blueballs.erotimania.com for my journal tomorrow and hopefully that will aid the search engine ranking. The same url that is used now to access the journal will also still work. Now the other thing I need to do is code it for keywords so it ranks high in the keywords I want to use. Of course I have to decide what keywords I want to use too. Pretty fun!

I spent some time downtown today looking for a book on learning redhat linux and apache. I found a great little book with a few CD’s on it that would teach me everything I want to know about running a web server, but it was 150 bucks. Fuck that. I used to work on a unix platform, but the only command I remember is grep. I love grep. Grep kicks ass. I figure I need to learn more about the OS if I’m going to do my own web hosting. I’m simply not willing to pay 150 bucks to learn at the moment. So I’ve put some linux books on hold at the library. And I’ve hit the websites for tutorials and online references. I’m also going to put together the spare box I have and install redhat and apache on it and learn from using the system. If I break my local box I can reinstall the OS without my sites going down.

I was just reading some of thepast Friday Fives at fridayfive.org and I say this one:

Did you have a senior quote in your high school yearbook? What was it?

Yes I did, actually. But it wasn’t the one I remember writing. The one that was published said something about me wanting to join the airforce after highschool and hating math class. Both were true in the sense that I hated math and had applied to the air force as I graduated, but the one I throught I wrote was so much more ME. Ah well. In case you’re wondering, I decided not to go into the air force after visiting Royal Roads Military College while in grade 12 and noticing I had a problem with authority. I somehow seemed to tell someone who thought he was important to fuck off after he started yelling at me for not walking down a flight of stairs properly. I wasn’t a cadet so I felt it was perfectly appropriate for me to voice my displeasure at his offensiveness.

I haven’t changed much in that regard. I expect to be treated with respect and I always treat someone with respect unless they are disrespectful towards me. There are two major kinds of respect that I apply in my life. There’s a basic respect I give to every being simply for *being*, and there’s the earned respect I have for people who have touched me in some way through showing their respect for me and for other people through their kindness, compassion, actions, and words.

I truly believe that we get out of life as much as we put into it. If we give respect, we will get respect. If we show love, we will get love. The more we GIVE of ourselves, the more we will get. It’s the karma cliche, but it’s true none the less.

Moving on. I need to get a “question of the day” thing going. I often sit down to write and simply have too much information jumbling through my head, so I write about my day instead. Yep.

Ξ March 16th, 2004 | → 3 Comments | ∇ General |

I feel better today than I did yesterday. Yesterday was a real crappy day for me. I did manage to get a fair bit done yesterday that was helpful in destressing, which I’m sure made today better. I also worked out last night and tonight, so that’s always a good thing in terms of how I feel.

I cooked steak for dinner yesterday and the day before. Today I cooked a sirloin tip roast and sauteed some onions, garlic, and red and yellow peppers for the veggie portion of the meal. It’s been a beef week. I’m hoping on Thursday to get to the T&T market to pick up some fish and dumplings. I’m no gourmet, but I can cook very tasty dinners that don’t take much energy or time to prepare. I’m all about spending the least amount of time in the kitchen possible.

My day usually starts with toast and cheese, and a glass of water. Lunch is usually the meal I cook so it’s some kind of meat with veggies or salad. I don’t make a lot of carby things for lunch because I eat so much throughout the day. I’ll have a piece of fruit somewhere in there too. I’ll also drink at least a litre of cola a day and eat at least one candy bar. In the evening, usually around 11pm I’ll have something else to eat, usually toast and cheese again, or if I have mini pizzas I’ll throw those in the oven. I love my toast and cheese. I’m a marble cheddar kind of guy usually. I also like havarti and gruyere and the smoked cheeses on toast. Uber yummy. Anyways, I only usually ‘cook’ one meal a day. I am looking forward to salad season. Veggies are just coming into season locally so there should be some lovely local produce available soon.

I read adult webmaster forums almost on a daily basis to scope out new ideas, get a feel for the political climate, read the stories about the ashcroft/bush era in the U.S. and how it affects adult businesses, read about patent issues that affect digital compression, and generally keep in touch with any new issues we need to be aware of when running our sites. One of the main reasons I decided to get our own server was so we could move to a Canadian company so that we wouldn’t be subject to U.S. obscenity laws as well as patent issues affecting a large majority of U.S. based adult web businesses.

The U.S. political climate is strongly set against the adult web business. Adult webmasters rotuinely have to pay more for hosting, merchant accounts, Visa set up fees, and are subject to 18 USC 2257 compliance. For an adult website to get a listing on google it’s around $450US per year to be listed. An adult site has to pay Visa $750US setup fee and $375US per year thereafter to be able to process Visa transactions. Over time it’s become harder and harder for adult webmasters to do business as excessively strict rules have come into play aimed at putting a thorn in the side of adult webmasters. It’s quite crazy.

All adult webmasters are required to have signed model releases and proof of age for any person they photograph. Makes sense. We do it ourselves because a) it protects us, and b) it protects the models. In the US under 18 USC 2257 compliance, US based adult webmasters are required to post a notice on their website that includes the address to where the records/model releases are kept. For most amateur sites that means posting their home address. The regulation is worded such that the documents must be hosted where they do their primary business from. Quite crappy to have to post your home address on your website, especially for those amateur webmasters that require a modicum of privacy.

Anyways. In Canada our political asses aren’t as tight as they are in the US. They are asses none-the-less, but as far as what goes on in the bedroom, Canada pretty much allows adult webmasters to follow the same rules as any other business. Unfortunately as far as Visa goes, since most of the third party processors are based in the U.S. most companies whther based in the US or not are subject to U.S. rules. For the few third part processors that are internationally based - Visa operates as a global entity, so eventually the rules that U.S. companies have to follow will migrate their way internationally.

When we first put up our sites we thought it would be pretty simply, and 4 years ago it WAS relatively simple. We were basically only taking photos of each other, so we didn’t need to worry about record keeping or model releases. The Visa rules weren’t in place so it was easy to find someone to process transactions, Ashcroft wasn’t jumping up your ass trying to stamp out porn on the net, and the market wasn’t oversaturated with a whole lot of crap like it is today.

We consider ourselves really lucky that people like the material we produce and that we’ve been able to do something we enjoy so much for the last 4 years. Making porn is fun! With any luck we’ll be around for 4 more, and another 4 and another… and so on.

Ynotmasters is the place I go to for up to date news on the adult industry online. If you have ever thought about starting a site, this is the best place to go for tips, hints, and tutorials.
