Step One, steal underpants…

I’ve got two cams running on my web cam pop up for my journal now. One points at the bed, and the other points downstairs into out loft.

The one thing I’m dissapointed about with the new camcorder is that it’s night vision is not very good in low light. It’s supposed to be good to 0 lux, but I’ve realized it’s only good in 0 lux up to 5 feet away. Of course I could buy an infrared attachment that would extend the night vision up to 100 feet, but it’s not worth it if my orbit works. It’s also not very sensitive to low light in regular mode either. I’ve switched the bed cam back to the QuickCam orbit; it’s better in low light. I’ll keep the camcorder for brighter lit areas and video clips.

I am looking for ways to stream video clips from my linux server. As it is, when users click on the movie link, it allows a progressive download so users can download the video and play it on their machine. I want to find a way to stream the video clips in such a way that a copy of the video clip is not left on the users computer. Anyone have a clue how to do this on linux?

Have a harpy new year folks!

About Me

Ξ December 29th, 2004 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

Age: I was born in 1971, so that makes me 33 as of this writing. If you place any stock in astrology, I’m an Aries.

Locale: I live in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. I love where I live. I can’t imagine ever living anywhere else in the world for any length of time. B.C. will always be my home. I don’t think there is anywhere else in the world that is quite as beautiful. I love my proximity to nature (not that I visit it often), the city, and especially the ocean.

I would like to buy acreage in the countryside and build a home in a few years; a nice little getaway from the city. I like the idea of having property that is large enough that I can have all the people around me that I care about, yet still have enough room to have my own space.

Personality: I am pretty friendly, very open minded, and intelligent. I tend to be pretty relaxed about life and the ups and downs that go along with living. I like to try new things and love to learn. I treat people like I want to be treated. I’m like an old ding dong – hard and crusty on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside.

I am a mix of contradictions, and I have learned to embrace most of them. I’m a lazy perfectionist, a hard nosed liberal, and a social hermit, just to name a few. I try to take the middle path in my life between excess and absence.

I love Guinness and single malt scotch. One of my favorite things to do is go to a local pub and sip on a Guinness and a nice smooth single malt. I find that I use the time where I’m sipping as a real time for self reflection.

I believe that people take life, and themselves, much too seriously.

Relationship Status: I am married to Katt, and dating Tanuki. I am polyamorous. Katt and I have been together since Feb 1992, and Tanuki and I have been together since April 2004.

Politics: I’m socially very liberal. I am pro choice, pro gay marriage, and believe strongly in government funded Medicare and education. I believe that religion and government should be completely separate.

Profession: I create erotic art for mass consumption. ie) I’m a pornographer. Katt and I started in April 2000 with one site, Erotimania, and have expanded in the last four years to a total of 28 sites, many of them free sites. We are responsible for all aspects of running our websites; photography, web hosting, web design, and marketing. Part of our goal with our sites is to create ethical pornography that meets our exacting criteria for both caring for the people who model for us, following all legal requirements, and holding true to our beliefs that the positive expression of sexuality is every person’s right.

Sexuality: I’m very fussy about who I become involved with. It’s a recurring theme throughout my life. I’m picky. Who I find attractive is very much based around personality, chemistry, and communication rather than gender. I support every individual’s choice to love who they choose.

Kink: I have been involved in BDSM since 1994 as a Dominant. My two play partners are Tanuki and Katt. I am happy to be involved with two such unique and wonderful people. I have a real interest in most aspects of BDSM and play including d/s, s/m, role play, age play, and service oriented training. That’s scratching the surface, but it gives a general idea.

Spirituality: Yes. I believe in possibilities, and I have faith in myself.

Body Mod: I’ve got a tattoo on my right arm. I think I will very likely stick with one tattoo. I have had a gift certificate for 3.5 years now for a new tattoo that I haven’t used yet, and somehow I think the likelihood that I’ll find another design that I want on my body is pretty slim. I’m not discounting it completely, but I’m not over enthused about more body art at the moment.

Education: I have a degree in Anthropology, and have done Masters studies in Counseling Psychology. I’m also a martial artist, it’s the closest thing It’s my passion and something I will eventually pursue as a career. All in all I am a student of Life and am looking forward to learning more.

Hobbies: I love to read. Reading is one of my absolute favorite things to do in the entire world. I’ve been stuck in the same genre for years though – Science Fiction and Fantasy. Yes – geek boy. My list of favorite authors includes Charles De Lint, Tad Williams, Terry Goodkind, David Eddings, Stephen R Donaldson, and Robert Jordan. Most of the books I read apart from this genre are psychology or sexuality books. Or information specific to a project I am working on.

I have always loved the anti hero archetype. The best stories that I have ever read feature my vision of the anti hero. See this entry. Often main characters are too well rounded and they are hard to identify with, which creates an empathy gap between the reader and the main character. I love the anti hero because he/she embodies dualities and deals with issues I can empathize with; weakness and strength, hope and despite, love and hate. The root of any good story, in my humble opinion, is the internal struggle of a character to come to terms with those dualities, and thus save his/her self and their story.

Music: I love music. I definitely prefer Blues, Alternative Rock, 80’s Rock, Metal, hard rock, and Jazz. I’m also a sucker for a good love song. I can’t honestly say that I like Country Music or Opera. In fact, it would be a bold faced lie! I’m a bit of a rocker at heart. Give me some AC/DC, Silverchair, Radiohead, Billy Joel, Metallica, Beatles, Bif Naked, David Bowie, Dry Cell, Evanescence etc; music with character. I’m also a sucker for 80’s music. That makes sense given I was an 80’s child!

This is my ‘porn’ site; my version of what I think is sexy.

Warning: If you don’t like photos of nude men,
don’t visit this site.

Happy pornographer

Ξ December 29th, 2004 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Porn Notes |

The camcorder kicks ass. I’m really happy. It was so easy to set it up so it can act as a webcam on my computer, and easier to transfer video to my computer from the camcorder.

Tonight or tomorrow I’ll be setting up the web cams so that they are all live on the site and labeled properly.

In even better news we now have 3 head shave shoots in the planning stages for January and February. I’m really excited about that. We can now take videos as well as stills so we’ll get double the content from each shoot, and make members twice as happy!

I’m thinking happy doubling membership thoughts! (Pay off mortgage faster, save save save!!!).

Back to porn!

Ξ December 28th, 2004 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Porn Notes |

Tomorrow or the next day I am going to go purchase a Sony Digital8 Camcorber. I’m also going to get a new battery for my Nikon digicam and a new compact flash card. We have two major shoots coming up, one on Jan 4 and the next on Feb 22 for our Headshave site. We’ve decided to take video footage of all our photo shoots so we can add video to our sites in the next 3 months.

Video is where it’s at. Still photography is beautiful and we have a great response to our still photographs, but most people want to watch streaming video. If I’m looking for something to maturbate to, it’s going to be video, not stills. Hopefully with this expansion into Video we’ll attract more members. We’re doing fairly well right now, but we want to double what we have now in 2005. I think we’ll make members happy with the addition of Videos in March.

The only thing I don’t know how to do yet is edit raw digital video footage. The camcorder comes with both a USB and firewire port for download to my computer, and it comes with drivers, but no editing software. I’ll have to look for something inexpensive but functional for editing.

It’s a big expense, but I think it will pay for itself by the end of 2005. The nice thing about the camcorder is that it can double as a web cam and it has night vision so folks can watch us at night.

We also need to get proper backdrops for photos for our place. Since we use our home as our photo studio we need to find ways to change the background easily and set up a space for shooting. That will allow us to have a bit more variation.

It’s stressful spending so much money, but I think it will be worth it. I can write part of the purchase off as a business expense so that makes it a little less painful too.

Yay! Video porn!

Beautiful day!

Ξ December 27th, 2004 | → 2 Comments | ∇ General |

I woke up to beautiful sunshine today! After I took Bella and Iggy outside I stretched out on the sofa bed and basked in the sunbeams coming through the window. Bella was kind enbough to keep my feet warm. She’s only 11lbs, but she’s a toasty little pug!

Katt and I bought tickets to the Milionnaire Lottery again this year. There are two draws, one on January 15th, and the next on January 22nd. The prizes kick ass. We won a travel bag last year. I’m hoping the one in five chance to win translates into a prize for us again this year. I’m dreaming big and expecting nada, so I won’t be disappointed either way. The nice thing about this lottery is that proceeds go directly to local hospitals. Dreaming about winning prizes or cash is a happy thing!

I’ve been exceedingly lazy over the holidays. I haven’t exercised, in fact I’ve put on a few pounds, I haven’t done any work, I haven’t gone for any long walks, and I haven’t been social. I’ve basically been at home reading over the holidays. I would go train, but the gym is closed until Jan 4. I should get off me arse and take the dogs for a long walk today. It is a lovely day for a trundle.

I have to get back to work soon. No updates in 2 weeks makes members unhappy. I also need to vacuum, do laundry, and do a quick tidy. I think I’ll do the cleaning today, and start working tonight or tomorrow.

— 2 hours later—

I took the pugs to the beach! Iggy is really reliable off leash, but I’m still teaching Bella to stay close to me. She has a tendency to follow other people, but she does come whn called enthusiastically. I try to give her a little off leash time so I can reqard her for coming when called, but not give her too much off elash time that she runs off where she can’t hear me. Iggy always runs in the water when we go to the beach, and Bella followed him in today for the first time. She did pretty well for her first time swimming. She sank a couple of times until she got the rhythm of it, but instead of swimming back to shore where I was calling her, she started to swim farther out, so I took of my shoes and waded out to get her. She was only 6 feet out, but I didn’t want to risk her going out further and not being within quick grasping range.

I haven’t gotten around to tidying or laundry yet. Soon.

Hmm… how exciting is my day when I write about doing laundry??? Ah well.

Off to read and maybe do laundry.

Happy Christmas

Ξ December 25th, 2004 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

Happy ho ho ho to one and all. I hope you’re having as nice a Christmas as we are. We had a nice christmas eve dinner last night of pork chops, scalloped potatos, and steamed cauliflower, followed by a dessert of CHOCOLATE!!! And naniamo bars! We decided to do our gift exchange last night instead of today. The girls were both very eager to see what was udnber the tree, so being the nice daddy I am, I said ok.

Tanuki received a Tickled Pink Bag, inspired by her Tickled Pink Toy empire, a very special good luck kitty, and some cute nick nacks. Katt got a very cool rabbit ivibe from Tanuki and I. This year, I gave the gift of orgasms! Katt got me a gift certificate to Future Shop, and Tanuki and Katt gave me a bottle of 16 year old lagavulin Scotch! Oh, it’s so yummy. It’s very sweet on first taste, and it has a great smoky peat after taste.

The girls have been playing Sims 2 most of the day today. I’ve spent most of the day reading and eating chocolate. We put the turkey in the oven at 2:45, so it should be coming out aroung 6, give or take 15 minutes. I’m looking forward to it!

I did have a sad moment last night walking home from the corner store. I saw a woman sitting on the ground in front of my building injecting herself with heroin. It’s such a stark reminder that a lot of work needs to be done in the world. We’ve got a long way to go yet.

It’s cold in here

Ξ December 23rd, 2004 | → 0 Comments | ∇ General |

For some reason my right foot has been really cold the last few weeks. When I’m in bed it’s okay, but as soon as I get up and put on slippers or shoes on it feels like I’ve dipped my foot in ice. It’s come on quite suddenly so I figure I’ll mention it to my Dr. I don’t want to take any chances that it could be a symptom of something more serious.

I’m looking forward to Christmas Eve. I’m going to have both of my girls here with me and I’m going to cook some tasty NY steak and make a nice salad for dinner, put on some holiday music or watch some holiday TV, and listen to the Santa report! It’s going to be a very nice night. I’ve got a really nice bottle of Chianti I’ll open tomorrow night too.

I washed every piece of clothing and linen I could find today. Four loads of laundry later everything smells fresh and clean! The only thing I didn’t wash was the bath mat, and that will get washed tomorrow. I also got most of my food shopping done today. I’ve got turkey, broccoli, carrots, potatoes, and beans for bean salad. I’m sure I am missing something, but of course I’ll only remember after the stores close. Oh, I remember something right now! Naniamo Bars and Mincemeat tarts! I’ll get those tomorrow. And perhaps some shortbread nookies.

I’ve got a lot percolating in my head right now. I pretty much always do, actually. May start working on a big entry about it soon.

Extra Turkey

Ξ December 23rd, 2004 | → 2 Comments | ∇ General |

I have an extra Turkey that I won’t cook for Christmas Dinner. Does anyone close want it? It’s a 10lb’ish fresh turkey and looks very yummy!

—edit—

I donated the Turkey to a local kitchen that serves food to the needy over the holidays. I’ve never brought food to a kitchen like that before, it was a little overwhelming. I wasn’t expecting to be thanked so heartily for bringing down a turkey. What made me really happy was to hear that it was going to be used to make soup for tomorrow that will feed 100 people. It really made my day!
