Wake me up before you…

The first viewing went well, but I don’t think we’ll get an offer from them.  The real estate agent said the couple that viewed liked our place, but it wasn’t enthusiastically what they were looking for.  We have another person coming to look at the place tomorrow afternoon that the realtor feels is very likely to make an offer.  We shall see.
We got passport applications and had passport photos taken today.  That was fun.

We also got Katt’s downpayment for her lap band surgery organized so we can get that taken care of tomorrow.

What else…   not much else yet.

Micah

Ξ February 28th, 2006 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

I just finished reading Laurell K Hamilton’s new novella, Micah.  I was really dissappointed by the book.  First, it was a scant 280 pages, double spaced, and it was sold at full novel price.  That’s cheating, in my book.  The story itself felt rushed and incomplete, and while the story divulges a few plot points which I’m sure will be followed up on in the next book, it would have been much more satisfying if it was written in the context of a larger scoped story.

Micah was like one of the first scenes in the James Bond movies where Bond miraculously escapes certain death… only without the rest of the movie.

Of course, it won’t stop me from getting the next book.  I’m too invested in the story to stop!

We have the first people coming tomorrow morning to check out our condo. Our place sparkles it’s so clean. I tried out one of those magic eraser thingies to clean the smudges on the walls, and it cleaned it really well. I’m not going to mention that I still have to go through the cabinets and throw away or sell the things we don’t need/want and/or won’t use, or that the cabinets are filled to the brim to make the condo appear more organized than it actually is. It’s all about creating the illusion of perfection. Yerp.

We’ve been thinking about getting a larger RV when we’re in the market. We’ve been looking at Class B camper vans and we’ve generally found them to be a little on the small side for two people and two dogs. We’ve been looking into getting a Class C motorhome. A Class B maxes out at about 20′ long and a class C goes much larger. We’re thinking of something in the 21-26 foot range. That way we absodamnlutely get a large bed and have the storage space we’ll need to bring what we need for a long trip.

What we get will also depend on what is available in our price range. I love the Class B camper vans, they look a lot better than the class C’s, but they’re smaller and more expensive for the size. The class C is cheaper and you get more space. The class C is also harder to bring into a big city. The class B camper vans are the same size as most panel vans so you can park them pretty much anywhere. The class C, well, they’re big motherfuckers.

Once we sell, we’ll have a few weeks where we will be displaced while we look for an RV to buy/live in. Depending on when we get out of here, we may or may not have a place to stay. I wish we had the ability to purchase the van now, but our credit won’t let us do that.  So we’ll wait patiently until money is in our bank account, and work as quickly as we can to get an RV so we have a place to live.  Much fun.

I’m still amazed at how clean my place is.  Ack.

I’m grossly agiated today. I wouldn’t have gotten this much cleaning done if that hadn’t been the case though, so I shouldn’t complain. I always get the most done when I’m agitated. When I’m mellow and relaxed I tend to do less.

So I got a lot accomplished today. The loft is tidied and vacuumed. The downstairs has been tidied but I still need to mop the floor and clean under the kitchen sink. Oh, and wipe down the bathroom mirror. In total I threw out 8 or 9 bags of stuff. Purging is good. If I had thought ahead, I’d have borrowed the 16′ ladder from the strata manager and cleaned off the ceiling fan. It’s covered in dust and dog hair. Perhaps they won’t look up, or won’t care.

I’ve taken all the kink gear off the wall where it usually hangs and put it in a cabinet. Don’t want to scare the buyers.

Argh! I want the selling over with so I know when we can go on to the next step. Of course, when the selling is done, I’ll be complaining that I have to wait for the new owner to take posession so we can get our money and buy a van. Ptttht.

Waiting sucks.

I’ve never sold real estate before though, so yay for a new experience. I’ve done many things in my life, but never sell a home. Hrm.

A cleaning I will go

Ξ February 26th, 2006 | → Comments Off | ∇ General |

I have spent the day alternating between watching Spiderman 2 on TV and cleaning the loft.  I’m doing my best to make it look saleable for the realty tours starting on Tuesday.  I’ve thrown out 5 garbage bags full of… well… garbage;  stuff we don’t use and won’t need ever again.  I don’t have much left to do downstairs except mop the floor.

I still have to tidy and vacuum upstairs.   I need to remember to put the sex toys away.

Totally unmotivated.

Maybe I’ll get a second wind.

Jailed!

No, not me.  I figured out how to jail ftp uses on my server.  not very exciting to you maybe, but it prevents people I set up with ftp accounts from being able to view my entire directory structure for the virtual domain they are set up on.  A pox on sharing!  With our 50/50 revshare program in place for models on Curvosity,  I’ll be setting up may different subdomains for the different models, and I only want them to have access to their folder.  I am so smart!

I think I already mentioned that our place goes on the market on Monday and that I have to clean our place to a shiny shine over the weekend so it’s nice for people who are viewing the place next week.  Clean sells.

Katt got a call from her lap band surgeon’s office today.  She’s was asked to fill out a medical questionairre, choose the flavour of liquid food she wants, and send a deposit.  They only gave her a choice of chocolate and vanilla, neither of which she likes.  They’re also going to charge her for the meal replacements, so she wrote back and told them that she wanted to provide her own liquid meal replacement for before and after surgery.  That way she can buy something that has a taste.  The deposit itself is reasonable considering the cost for the entire surgery.  We’ll send all that info off to the clinic once we hear back about the meal replacements.

OH!!  I entered a 45 player sit and go poker tournament last night and got 3rd place.  I won $7.  I was in first place with three people left, then I went all in with three Queens, and I lost when the other person came up with a straight.  I had a few thousand chips left, and I mounted a valiant comeback, but I didn’t have the chips to fold any cards because the blinds would have knocked me out.  Still, I won 7 bucks on a $1 game!

    Another one bites the dust!

    Ξ February 22nd, 2006 | → 4 Comments | ∇ General, Travel Diary |

    We are for sale!

Actually, our condo is now on the market, I should say.

We signed the paperwork today and we were told to expect people coming to view the place on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.  Our area is really hot right now, and suites in our our building in particular are highly sought after.  He still figures we’ll sell the place within a week; two at the very most.

I have to really clean our place so that buyers come in and oooooh and ahhhh over the place when they come in to view.  I took the books that have been sitting on the floor for months to the used book store and got rid of them all today.  After that I cleaned the floor under and behind the fridge and microwave, the stove, and I mopped the floors.  I did some minor book shelf organization as well.  I have so much more to go.  Thankfully, I have 5 days to do it in so I can take my time.

We’re going to be selling a bunch of stuff on ebay.  Katt has clothes that she won’t wear again that she wants to sell; fetish clothes and other clothes.  She’ll lose a lot of weight after lap band surgery so most of what she has she won’t be able to fit into.  We’ll also be selling a lot of nick nacks.  My task for tonight is to go through all our stuff with Katt and photograph them and list them on ebay.

    Yay!

    A sense of accomplishment

    Ξ February 22nd, 2006 | → Comments Off | ∇ General, Porn Notes |

Yay!  My book keeping is all done!  I spent 6 hours straight organizing and entering all my data into a spreadhseet.  I’m in good shape to visit the accountant next week.  He wants to talk about different strategies for saving me money.  Already he has told me that we can re do both katt and my taxes for the last 4 years so we can get more money back!  He had me at ‘pay less taxes and get money back’.  Tax time stresses me out majorly every year.  I feel cautiously optimistic this year!

We also met a curvy girl that came into town for business that Katt met through Livejournal.  We had dinner together and took some photos of her.  We had a great time.  She’s very vivacious and really fun to hang with.  We’re going to see her again on Thursday to take more photos and eat more tasty food!

I cleaned the condo a little tonight so the realtor doesn’t go all googly eyed when he comes over to get our place listed tomorrow.   I think we will do quite well on the sale, and if our taxes are less than expected due to the help of the new accountant we’ll have a little more room to play with!  Left over tax money could mean a new camera, new lighting equipment, or a newer camper van.

I keep having to remind myself to take it one step at a time.  There’s a progression of things that need to happen before I get too exited.

    Woo!

    Ξ February 21st, 2006 | → 2 Comments | ∇ General |

So Katt has an appointment for lap band surgery.  Woo!  With that planned, I called our real estate agent and made an appointment for tomorrow to list our condo for sale.  Very exciting!  Our plans are coming together.

I’m glad the real estate agent didn’t want to come by today.  I need to clean the condo a little before anyone comes over.  it’s not horrible or anything in here, but it is certainly messier than I like to showcase to the world.

I also made an appointment with an accountant.  He suggested in an e-mail that I separate receipts based on expense category and summarize each category before I bring in my stuff to do taxes.  Categorizing them is easy.  Data entry is SO LAME.  Like flog me with a rubber hose kinda lame!  Of course, I never do my book keeping until year end.  Bad Wolfe.  I might get myself a tax program so I can enter receipts as I get them, or I may just send my receipts at the end of each month to a book keeper from now on so I’m not faced with 12 months of book keeping to do myself.  Bleh.  I have the time to enter it.  I just don’t want to.  This means I likely will do it all myself for last year, and set up soemthing for 2006 that is more convenient.  When I hear back from the accountant I will see what the cost is and go from there.

I woke up early today.  I am still in sleep mode.  I think I got 3.5 hours of sleep.  I am trying to keep my sentences short and to the point today so I don’t get confused.
