Our first Halloween in our house has gone well. We bought 330 pieces of candy, not knowing how many trick or treaters we would get, and we still have a good half of it left. We gave out big handfuls, and still we have some left. We’re hoping we’ll get a few stragglers that we can unload heaps of candy so we can save ourselves from the evilness of easily accessible candy in the house. We even decorated the front of the house with two pumpkins, and a bunch of free lights we got from a local lady. We got all in the spirit!
I had the RV winterized today, meaning I drained all the water from the lines in the rv and filled them with special rv antifreeze. It’s been 3 or 4 degrees below freezing the last few nights and I didn’t want burst pipes to put a damper on selling the van. As far as finding a buyer goes, I expect it to be a challenge given that it’s not RV season. I have had a few people come see it, but no offers yet.
I’ve been letting my hair grow for the last month or two. Every October I let my hair grow a little bit so my head stays warmer in cold weather. This year I am noticing WAY more grey hairs than I did last year. One year ago I could count exactly three grey hairs on my head. This year I have lost count. Very interesting. Maybe it means I’m starting to become ‘distinguished’. Either that or I’m just getting old. I don’t feel old; at 35 I’ve got lots of vim and vigor. Just today I raked the leaves in the back yard. If that isn’t vim and vigor, I don’t know what is!
We are basically unpacked now, but we’re not organized yet. Still working on it. I still have to paint the second bedroom, border trim, and the kitchen. I’m not feeling all that keen on painting right now, so I’ve been putting it off. I’ll get to it eventually, but not until I am well and truly bored.
Battlestar Galactica is kicking ass this year. I missed the first 2 episodes, unfortunately, but I’ve been grooving on the ones I have seen. It looks like RDM is going to have a banner year!

This is a call out to all of Katt and my friends and acquaintances. If you know a woman who is interested in making some money by shaving her head, please let us know, or pass along our contact details. We could really use some assistance in locating interested models.
Thanks!

We have finally started to set up our place! The floor varnish dried yesterday so we moved all of our furniture in and started to unpack boxes. The kitchen is all set up. Even with all our furniture moved in the place still looks empty. Moving from a 480 sq foot condo to a 1400 sq foot house (not including the basement) really shows how little stuff we actually have.
My computer came back on Monday! The LCD that broke has been replaced and the computer works again. I am really happy to have it back.
It is kind of wierd living in a house. I’ve spent the last 15 years living in an apartment or condo, under 650 sq feet of space on average, and it’s hard to get used to having so much space. It’s a heck of a lot more responsibility than having a condo. There is always so much to be done! I’ll get used to it.
Katt is healing nicely. She is 9 days post surgery tomorrow and has an appointment in the morning to get the surgical staples removed from her incision. She still has a fair bit of discomfort and can’t get up and move around as much as she would like, but she is slowly improving.
Back to work!

I’ve been really busy during the daytime lately, but not so much in the evening. I work hard on the house during the day, visit the girl in the hospital in the aftenoon, have dinner with inlaws in the evening, and I go home to the dogs in the late evening.
I am still waiting for it to sink in that we have a home again. It feels a little surreal at times to go in the house to work. Each time I walk in the back yard I feel like I’m going into someone else’s space. It’s an interesting phenomenon. I have done a tonne of work inside the house; I’m a damned handy man. Today I cut out a space in the counter for the dishwasher and I cut down three trees in the back yard that were overgrown and in bad shape. Some time tomorrow I’ll cut down the fourth tree and will bring them to the organic recycling dump. I also have to plumb the dishwasher and wire it as well. So much fun. There is a lot that needs to be done to the house, but I’m only focusing on the essentials for now.
The house was built in early 50’s and 90% of the electrical outlets in the house are ungrounded. I will need to rewire the outlets a bit at a time. I mainly want to make sure that the computers won’t die. Dead computers suck ass. The house is really a project house. It needs a lot of updating, but the bones of the house are fantastic. The entry hallway, living room, and dining room all have coved ceilings and textured stucco walls. Every room except the kitchen and bathroom has oak hardwood floors that I have been refinishing and staining. The shingles on the shop need to be replaced next spring and the house will need to have new shingles in 2-3 years.
All that said, it’s a gorgeous house with lots of space. We should be able to really move in on Monday or Tuesday. We have to wait until the last coat of eurethane on the floor dries before we can get back in. I have been in the van the last few nights because the floor has needed to dry because it was stained one night, and tonight because the first coat of varnish was put on. I am hoping the last coat will be able to go on the floor tomorrow and that it will dry quickly so we can get in our place and sleep in our bed again.
Funnily enough the van still feels more like home that the house does. I’ve been sleeping in the van the last few nights and the dogs are happier, and I am sleeping better. I guess it will take a while to get used to the new place.
Katt’s hysterectomy was a complete success. What was thought to be three lumps as actually one large mass (from one side of the pelvic region to the other) with many lumps on it. The incision to remove it was smaller than expected as well because the shape weas such that it could be twisted and removed from a smaller incision. She was sore immediately after the surgery and has a morphine drip to help her manage the pain. She needed much less pain killers within 6 hours after surgery. The Dr removed her uterus (with tumors of course) and her cervix, but was able to leave her ovaries in as they were completely untouched by the tumors.
We are moving in to the new place slowly but surely. Painting is coming along very well. I’ve just about finished the dining room and living room. I just need to do touch ups now. The main entry hallway and the walls and closet in the master bedroom have been painted, but I haven’t started the trim yet. I won’t be able to finish painting until Monday or Tuesday so I’m going to get out my trusty stepladder and clean the gutters. Tomorrow is a hugely busy day. The cable company is coming to fix a cable outlet in the living room. The appliances we got in trade for designing a website for a client come tomorrow morning. I like working for appliances. It is nice! I also have a few other people coming in to do stuff. And on top of that I want to go visit Katt in the hospital!
At the rate we’re going I expect we’ll be able to unpack our stuff in about 2 weeks. The house is really lovely, but it requires some updating. Thankfully, I can do most of it myself . The house was built in the 50’s, and the majority of the electrical outlets are two pronged and/or ungrounded.
I am really glad we’re going to be in one place again. We’re very cash poor now that we’ve got the house, so I really need to be able to set up the photo studio again and get the businesses running strongly. I need bald models, btw. If any of my friends know of anyone local that might be interested or that can be coerced (nicely and consensually of course) to go bald, please pass on my contact info! Muchas Gracias!
We will, eventually, have a house warming party once Katt has recovered from her surgery and we’re settled in a bit more.
Travelling is officially over. We’re settled again. Wow.
I must be excited or stressed or something. We move into our new place tomorrow. That’s pretty cool. There is a lot of work to do; painting, refinishing the HW floors, plumbing for the dishwasher, and some rewiring. We’re also expecting our furniture to be delivered from storage on Saturday, and some other deliveries as well. This weekend will be nuts. I have to do the whole address change thing soon too. If any local friends want to come over Saturday and help paint, I’ll have beer and food in the fridge! Just e-mail me for details, and keep in mind we’re about 90 mins outside of downtown Vancouver.
I am really happy to be having our own space again. In particular I’m excited about having a dungeon/play space, and I’m really excited about being able to entertain and have parties. That’ll rock. Of course, that won’t be happening until after Katt recovers from surgery. She gets vivisected on the 17th and will spend 4-7 days in hospital recovering. Hysterectomies are a pretty intensive surgery and it takes a very long time to recover from. In the long term, there will be a few benefits for her though from having had a hysterctomy. She’ll never bleed again, and she’ll never ever be able to get pregnant. It also seems she’ll keep her ovaries, which is very good. On a related note, I’m #1 in google for the search term “fibrous uterine growth”. Another downside to the hysterectomy is lack of sex! In the grand scheme of things it’s not a big deal, but it kind of sucks because Katt’s sex drive had started to come back quite strongly after a long time of being almost non existent and we were starting to rebuild that intimacy again which was really nice. Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore her and am completely stricken by lust for her.
It’s funny, one of the reasons the kind of poly we’ve done over the last 4-5 years hasn’t worked for us is because we dated separately during that period of time. My partners always felt that Katt was and is my main focus and that created an imbalance in that way. I enjoy being with Katt. We spend most of our days together and our lives are really integrated with each other. No matter how much we loved our other partners, there was just no way we could manage that level of equality purely from the fact that Katt and I had 15 years of history and goals as a couple that wanted to accomplish. I couldn’t be one of those poly people that moves between 3 or more different partners. To me it would feel like I was moving in a different direction than I wanted. I enjoy spending time with Katt. I guess I am one of those people that bonds really strongly to their partner. I can’t imagine my life without her. When you try to take someone else into that equation it can really become a challenge. Of course, there are different levels of relationships as well that wouldn’t require that level of enmeshment, and thats what we’ll likely do in the future. For myself, that means casual kink play and perhaps having a fuckbuddy or three. I don’t have any plans for any more romantic poly relationships. The kind of relationships we are really more interested in are power exchange (d/s) relationships. We’re a dominant kinky couple and we don’t want anyone to have equal say. That was a wee tangent, but something we’ve been talking about a lot.
One of the first things we’ll do tomorrow is buy paint and dog proof the fence in the back yard. Wow. We have a back yard. The dogs will love that. It’s not very private at the moment, but thats something we can worry about next year. We have family lined up with plant donations, so I’m sure we can come up with something.
I’d better try to sleep. I am starting to get too foggy to type coherently.
We got some good news today. Katt will be having her hysterectomy in 2 weeks. We were really pleased that she could get surgery so quickly. The Dr felt that her fibroids were still growing and they needed to be removed before they could cause complications for surgery. All in all, very good news! She’ll be in the hospital for a few days to a week after surgery. A hysterectomy is major surgery that can result in high blood loss in some cases, and in general is just pretty harsh on the body.
Not much new otherwise!
