Legend of the Seeker

I was eagerly anticipating the new TV series, Legend of the Seeker, which is based on the book, Wizards First Rule, by Terry Goodkind.  One of my favourite books of all time, I was hoping the translation to TV would really do the story justice.  Unfortunately, the production values are Xena’esque, the dialogue stilted, and the actors completely inappropriate for the parts.

One series that I did really enjoy was cancelled 4 episodes into its first season; My Own Worst Enemy.  I thought the story was interesting, and Christian Slater acted the part quite well.  I think the main plot line, ie. chip in brain malfunctions creating spy with randomly switching personalities, was likely the weak point.  *I* liked it, of course, but I can see how some might have looked at the show and thought that it was a wierd plot device.

Mad TV was also cancelled.  Argh!  Some of the best (and worst) sketch comedy ever created was done on that show.  Alas, no more Stuart, except in reruns.

Not that I watch a lt of TV, but I do follow a few shows dilligently.  House MD, Chuck, Supernatural, and Heroes.  Chuck is teh kool!

I would love to get a nice new 42″ wide screen plasma TV to watch the shows on, but I will wait until the prices go down around the holidays.  I am hoping the recession in the US and Canada will mean retailers will lower prices to get people into their stores.  Crossing of the fingers!

Beginnings

I start a new job tomorrow with the same organization I currently work for.  I’ve been with the organization for over a year now, and have had the opportunity to work in various jobs within the system.  I saw a posting for the job and I originally didn’t apply to it because, while I had the experience and skills, I didn’t have the certification required for the job.  I was invited to apply for the job, which really surprised me, and through the interview process they determined my skills met their needs, and voila.  I will get the certification needed for the job to make sure I keep it, and also to increase my skill set.  I’m really excited.  It’s right up my alley, the job is interesting, and there is a lot of opportunity for further education.

The universe has provided me with a lot of opportunities to do new and interesting things throughout my life.   I always try to be aware of opportunity, because if you don’t pay attention, they just slip on by.  I always try to be prepared for opportunity when it arrives so I can make the best of every one presented to me.

Life is good, when you pay attention.
