Year end Meme

Ξ December 27th, 2007 | → Comments Off | ∇ Memes |

1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before?

I got a vasectomy. Other than that, it was my first full year living in my own house.

2. Did you keep your New Year’s Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I never make New Years resolutions. I always do my best to be healthy and treat people with kindness and respect, so there is never any reason to make them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Again, no.

5. What countries did you visit?

Katt and I went to the US a few times last year. That was it.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?

More financial stability so we can pay off student loan debt and put some money into our home.

7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

I don’t have any dates in 2007 that stick out.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

My biggest achievements.. Getting a job outside of my own business for the first time in 6 years, and working out consisitently and staying healthy in 2007.  I also did the roof on my house in the fall.  That was a huge job, and I felt really good when I had finished it.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Blowing through savings early in the year too fast.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

This year was really healthy for me. I have not had any injuries and I don’t even remember having a head cold.

11. What was the best thing someone bought you?

It might seem silly, but the Transformers DVD. Katt got it for me for Christmas and she totally surprised me. It is hard to surprise me!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Both Katt and my choices regarding health this year have really been astounding. She has continued to be healthier and has lost a staggering amount of weight in the last 5 months, and I have been staying healthy as well.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Insert any polititian here that fights against the rights of individuals to choose for themselves.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Setting up our dungeon and renovating our home. Living in a house is NOT cheap. Heating alone is nasty.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

I don’t really remember. There were a few movies that excited me. I was excited about Christmas.

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?

I haven’t really listened to any new music this year, so I don’t have a song in mind.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? About the same.
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner and more muscular.
c) richer or poorer? Poorer throughout most of the year, better at the end of the year.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

I wish I had challenged myself a bit more last year. The only goal I set for myself was to lose 30lbs and get to the gym 4-5 days a week. I achieved it.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Spending money.

20. How do you plan to spend Christmas?

I spent part of the day at home with Katt, and the other part with my family.

21. Did you fall in love in 2007?

I did not fall in love with anyone new this year, but I always keep falling in love with Katt. She is very special.

22. How many one night stands?

None.

23. What was your favorite TV program?

Heroes, Chuck, and Battlestar Galactica.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

There are some people I do not trust and will not associate with, but I do not hate anyone. I simply choose not to involve myself with people with values and ethics that do not jive with my own.

25. What was the best book you read?

I’ve read too many books to single out a favorite. I do have to admit that the home renovation/repair books I bought have come in VERY handy.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Cripes… I don’t even know… I rarely listen to the radio so I am horrid with knowing what new music is available. I really want to focus on music in 2008.

27. What did you want and get?

Love.

28. What did you want and not get?

I was hoping to get a hot tub so Katt could use it to help alleviate some of her fibromyalgia discomfort, but they are just too expensive. I am hoping we can find a used one in 2008.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?

I don’t remember many of the movies I saw last year. The only one that sticks out for me is the Transformers, and that is partly because I got it on DVD for Christmas. Things like that tend to slip my mind unless I write them down.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Relaxed on my b-day I think, but had a party in the dungeon that was also a birthdya party for me a few days later.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

I’ll be damned if I know. Winning the lottery! Having more financial security.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?

Evolving.

33. What kept you sane?

Reading, music, and love.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Angelina Jolie is always gorgeous… but I don’t fancy any of them, really. They are too distant and not ‘real’ enough to be interesting to me. I prefer people that are actually attainable.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

Where do I start… Global warming, War in Iraq, war in Afghanistan, AIDS, the pending oil crash.

36. Who do you miss?

Nobody really. I thought I missed someone, but I realized that there wasn’t any point, since no effort was being made to keep contact with me. So I let it go.

37. Who was the best new person you met?

I’ve met a lot of cool people in the last year. Some I have gotten to know, and some I want to get to know better in the year to come.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007?

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

I will post some when I can think of lyrics that fit…  nothing coms to mind right now.

5. Snowball fights or sledding?
Sledding.  Especially if it’s on an inner tube.

8. How do you feel about Christmas movies?
I love ‘em!  White Christmas,  Elf, Christmas Story.  You name it, I love it!

(Vinyl/Cassette/CD/MP3 Download)?

My first purchase was a vinyl record called Hit Express, with such bands as Chilliwack, and err..  other’s I don’t recall.  THat was in the late 70’s early 80’s when it first came out.  My first CD purchase was Roachford in the early 90’s.

While I’m driving or while I’m working on the computer.  I have little earbuds I put in and tune on.

3) What is your favorite genre of music and why?

Rock and Roll of all stripes and varieties.  I like everything from sappy love ballads to hard crunching metal.  If it’s got good guitar and vocals that make sense I’m in.

4) What is your opinion on music video shows and music televion?

I don’t watch those shows.  I watched one with Stu Jeffries in the mid 80’s on CBC, and a little much music in the early 90’s, but nothing since.  I find it rather uninteresting

5) Do you usually agree with who the winners of the Grammy Awards are?

Grammies?  They provide a real measure of what I think is quality music?  NOT.

From : This place because I am bored
List all of the jobs that you have held in your lifetime.

Age 8-21

1) Paper route
2) Sweeping Chicken Barns
3) Baleing hay
4) Mucking horse stalls
5) Worked in two different plant nurseries
6) worked in a car detailing shop
7) worked sweeping a tractor sales place
8) worked in board laminating factory
9) worked in a semi tractor parts warehouse
10) worked in a sausage factory (this job paid for college)
Age 21-present

11) Doorman at a music store
12) worked an assembly line for a tech place
13) later worked in customer service at the same tech place
14) worked with two physically handicapped youth
15) Worked with downs, FAS, aspergers, autistic adults
16) Worked with more such folks
17) worked as a martial arts instructor
18) wrote a martial arts manual
19) became a pornographer

The rest is history.

I am happy to be working for myself. Of all the jobs, I only really have enjoyed two of them. I loved teaching martial arts, and I love my job now. I liked working with the mentally and physically challenged, but I found it extremely stressful and I had to stop doing to protect my barely intact sanity. It’s a very hard job. I admire folks who can do it, but I can’t do it for very long without going kookoo for koko puffs. It took me a few years to recover from those jobs.
I like working for myself an awful lot. It gives me the freedom to choose my own hours and take extended breaks when I need them. I also have nobody to answer to other than myself. I like that a lot.

It’s funny; our accountant looked at our earnings from the last few years and asked what we project we’d make this year. I told him probably about the same as last year. He asked me why I wasn’t going to make more and I told him I was happy with what we made last year, and that if we made more that would be great, but that I wasn’t going to increase the amount of work I’m doing just for a few extra dollars. Quality of life is more important to me than making an extra few dollars. I’m not hugely motivated to make money. I like making enough to maintain my quality of life , but a large portion of my quality of life comes from the fact that I have such a flexible schedule and there aren’t huge demands on my time.

The universe has been very good to me. I’ve always followed my gut when it comes to new opportunities in life. If I pay attention, there are always new opportunities popping up. I think that it’s the same for everyone. Whether we choose to take those opportunities or not is another thing, but there are opportunities that’s for sure.

As for me… I like a nice relaxed life, with low stress.

Johari results thus far…

Ξ February 14th, 2006 | → Comments Off | ∇ General, Memes, Relationships, Sex Talk |

It’s interesting to see the results so far from my johari profile. Loving has come up as my number one trait, and I’d have to whole heartedly agree with that. All of the traits that I thought I was have come up on the list. It’s interesting that I am percieved as shy by at least one person. I’m not shy. I can be introverted though. Yes, there is a huge difference between the two. When I want to I can be very gregarious and charming. I use those traits less these days though since there’s nobody I really want to impress or convince of my godhood ;)

able
bold
calm
caring
confident
friendly
intelligent
sentimental
loving

Those are the words that came up as my most percieved characteristics. I agree whole heartedly with those adjectives. I’m actually very sentimental. I don’t like to get rid of things, even if they are useless, if they have sentimental value to me. I made Katt keep the dress she wore when we first made love for about 6 years, even after it had gotten ripped and bleach stained, because I could see that dress and remember the smells, sensations, and feelings of the first time we held each other close. I’ve got a litte toy car, an f-1 race car I think it is, that my dad gave to me that he had for 20+ years when I turned 13. It’s still on my book case to this day. And oddly enough, I have a brass camel that my grandmother gave me when I was very young. I don’t remember the significance of the camel, other than it reminds me of my grandma when she was healthy and uncompromised by dementia.

Bold… There’s a few ways I interpret this. Some see me as bold for my lifestyle choices. I’m openly bi, kinky, and I run porn sites for a living. I’ve changed my last name. I don’t know if I see that as bold, more a function of neccessity. Perhaps being bold is simply doing what you want because you can. I’m not sure. It certainly hasn’t always been easy to live an alternative lifestyle, but it’s a lot easier than NOT living the way I live. It’s interesting how that can be percieved. I live my life as I do because it’s easier than not.

And in the other sense of being bold, I’ve just always done what has needed to be done. I avoid confrontation if I can; I don’t enjoy it but if I have to I can be a nasty bastard. I get it from my mother. She, like me, will turn into a beast if family or loved ones are threatened. I have slightly more… tact… than her. She’s a bit more bullish than I am.

I’m a very loving and loyal person. I have many wolf’ish traits, and those are among them. In the main, I’m a very emotional person thats wrapped himself in a hard, crunchy, indifferent shell. Shields up! Arm photon torpedos!

I’m not a casual person. I’m not good at doing anything half way. Idealism. That’s it. I’m idealistic. Pttthhht. Half measures are not worth taking. The downside to this is that I expect other people to meet the same expectations I hold for myself. It sometimes means that if I don’t think that *I* can meet my expectations, I just won’t bother to try. I have a lot of ’shoulds’ that run through my head. Love should be like this. Friendship should be like that. Monkeys should fly our of GWB’s ass. You know. Serious things. Actually, scratch that. The poor monkeys.

Shoulds are actually very limiting. Idealism can be limiting in some ways and liberating in others. I have a very idealized view of love. I’ve been living my very own love story for the last 14 years and to me thats about as ideal as it can get. I know how good love feels. I know what it feels like to have that love reflected back at me. I know what it is like to choose to grow together and choose a life with someone I adore. That is how love is supposed to feel in my mind. It is a hard standard for those I have been in a poly relationship with to feel that they need to live up to. So you see; liberating and limiting.

On another note… one of the friendships I value the most is with my friend Aya. I have to get in touch with her again. She had some major trauma before the holidays, and I have left her a few messages letting her know that I’m around if she needs anything. Incommunicado thus far. I love that girl; I hope she’s okay. I just don’t want to be pushy if she needs her space to recover. I’m very conscious of not being too pushy.

Anyhoo. I think it’s time to get to bed.
